Twisted jewellery is the major accessories trend in 2021

Jewellery with a twist – literally.

While we find jewellery trends particularly interesting, you want to be extra careful with what you are investing in – you don’t want to end up with expensive pieces you no longer find exciting the next season.

Still, a modern update of the most classic and simple jewellery style might tick all the boxes in terms of longevity and aspiration which is why we have our eyes on twist jewellery designs.

From earrings and necklaces to chic stacking rings, this season everything comes with a twist. Literally.

Twist as a feature

Inspired by the traditional rope designs, the twisted feature was seen in all kinds of jewellery styles. Most of these pieces are made with solid metals such as (recycled) silver and gold.

Simple, understated elegance.

The crossover design gives another dimension to otherwise simple pieces of jewellery such as hooped earrings. They are classic enough to be worn as your regular hoop earrings yet striking enough to stand out on their own with their unique feature.

Still, this contemporary, curved design makes a really interesting feature in rings and bracelets too. Both are perfect for stacking – since most of the twisted jewellery is simple and elegant, they don’t look overdone paired with more rings or bracelets.

Where to find the right eco piece?

Whether you decide to wear it on its own (each piece does look eye-catching solo), or stack it with other pieces to create a layered look, this mini-trend is worth investing in, especially if made of quality materials.

Take a look at these creative eco-friendly jewellery brands and their beautiful twisted pieces – you won’t be disappointed!

How do I look after your gold and silver jewellery?

You want your jewellery to last – while pure gold is a bit more resistant, silver needs a special case to prolong its lifespan.

To avoid tarnish or scratches here are a couple of pieces of advice you can follow when looking after your jewellery.

  • Store your jewellery properly – keep silver and gold out of direct sunlight and store each piece individually in a box or a pouch.
  • Avoid contact with liquids and chemicals – it will make silver tarnish more quickly. Take off your silver jewellery while swimming in the pool and sea as salt and chlorine can damage it. The same goes for exercising; contact with sweat can speed up tarnishing
  • Apply bodycare products like lotions, perfumes and moisturisers before putting on your jewellery, allowing it to fully dry first.
  • Don’t forget to clean it – use a mixture of mild washing up liquid and lukewarm water. Allow to fully dry before storing it away.
