How to wear: ankle boots

Winter boots are no longer necessary, but it’s still not warm enough for some flats?

Although the forecasts are constantly changing in favour of winter, warmer days are seriously getting closer – which means it is the right time to talk about ankle boots, again. Ankle boots are probably on the top of the list as the most favourite and the most worn pair of boots in every woman’s closet. No wonder, actually. Ankle booties can work with so many outfits. They are perfect for everyday casual looks, even work attires.

They can be worn for festive and formal occasions too, especially if you pair a leather booties with thick, but a higher heel with elegant pieces. Height will give your outfit a touch of sophistication, at the same time these are much more comfortable than regular high heels. Plus, stores and online shops offer pretty much all types and styles, whether suede or classic leather ones, ones with prints, snake or croc skin. The selection is wide, but the decision is up to you.

We decided to style our outfit suggestions around four types of ankle boots: simple leather ones, nude with a higher heel, black suede model and leather with snake-effect. Simple black pointed boots with shoelaces are perfect for casual looks.

Pair of comfortable jeans, a mini bag that is big enough to fit all the necessaries and colourful blazer seem like a good recipe for stylish attire. For another ‘cool effect’ go for a printed white tee.

The key to pairing ankle boots with polished clothing pieces, such as this midi skirt or ladylike bag, is in the right type of shoes. You should avoid suede ankle boots or the ones with heel smaller than 5-7 cm because they give the outfit more ‘unpretentious and informal’ feel rather than elegant which can be archived with leather and nice detailing.

Easygoing people will enjoy this simple ethnic chic look. It’s based on the playful coloured jumpsuit and basic accessories such as suede booties and fringe bag.

Of course, this outfit would be perfect for spring and some nicer weather, but it can be already worn by adjusting it to the current winter conditions – coat over a blazer and thick socks are a must.

Snake-skin is always a statement, but women often don’t know how to wear this eye-catching pattern. Fierce fashionistas usually wear it with bright and bold accessories, but we went in the opposite direction. We decided to pair these booties with comfy oversized black turtleneck and white mini skirt.

Simple details are also a good choice if you don’t want to overdo the whole look – we chose a thin gold necklace.
